Trust me when I say this pains me to do this. I've seen other games push so hard for their players to vote as often as possible to try and reach the top 5-10 of the voting mud listings out there. What generally happens is players will hit that mark for a month, maybe two, and then their efforts begin to fade. I often wonder how many games have come through a site like http://www.topmudsites.com, hit the first page, then faded to nothingness a few months later. So instead of incentives or breaking out a whip to get everyone voting from their computer, phone, tablet, neighbor's devices, and the public library; I'm just asking for consistency.
Right now we are listed on three sites: http://www.topmudsites.com, http://www.mudconnect.com and http://www.mudverse.com. Topmudsites has proven to be the best source for attracting new players as it has a community of its own. Likewise, mudconnect has its own forums and community, making it a good outlet for finding like minded players. It does require an account to vote however. A little extra effort here to support the game. Mudverse is more of a mud search engine. It takes minimal effort to stay on the front page of voting.
For the most part, the players that visit these forums are those who have been apart of the MUD community for years. It's not a genre that sees a lot of newcomers I would imagine. These players can spot an obvious push to the top easily and know to look deeper into the rankings to find a good game. They too are looking for consistency.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Voting
For the month of February, we finished 41 and 51 on the two voting sites. Just barely outside of our target goal of the second page. As more people get involved, I have no doubt that we'll hit page 2 easily each month.
Thanks to everyone that voted. After just one month I realize now that getting to the first page on top mud sites won't be that difficult to achieve, especially as our friends take more of an interest in the game in the upcoming months.

Re: Voting
as far as i know its 1 vote per 24 hours from an IP address. I don't know if it takes into account your internal address that is resolved with NAT or if it goes strickly off your ISP's address. if this is the case even if you vote from multiple computers in your house connected through a router it is still going to only count as one vote. it all depends on how the encoding works on how the decapsulate the IP packets
Re: Voting
I thought it was every 12 hours but it is a moot point anyway because I voted once from home and once from work. The IP address was not a factor.

Re: Voting
could be 12 hrs...i am going back off when i would vote for dgate which then i beleave was 24 hrs...though yah i vote from home and from computers at the school from variouse secitions of the school...hehe so the IP is also a mote point
Re: Voting
We've been hovering strong on the 2nd page right around 30th rank.
What is the timeline for making an announcement or otherwise spreading the word to more former Dgate players? The Dgate Facebook has slowed down tremendously and I would be concerned about losing part of that audience as the Facebook page begins spiraling down as people begin losing interest.
